Beyond the Edge: The Event

Today, ear­li­er, I wrote about a dream.

One out­come of that dream is a beau­ti­ful and remark­able expe­ri­ence called “Beyond the Edge: Affirm­ing Your Des­tiny as a Leader.” It is the best work I do, shar­ing in it with my close friends and col­leagues, Barb Hum­mel and Jay How­ell. We’ve been doing this event since 1996, some­times once or twice a year, some­times not at all. We are plan­ning an event for this May. We still have room in May. I wel­come ques­tions and feed­back of all kinds.

More than any­thing, Beyond the Edge is a place to find out how to use your per­son­al lead­er­ship to change the world. And, of course, engage in a process of gen­uine per­son­al growth and learn­ing along the way. The world will not change with­out our own changes. I am deeply proud of the amaz­ing things that have hap­pened for peo­ple as a result of attend­ing this event, but real­ize it is not the three of us who are “doing some­thing.” We are guests at this event as much as any oth­er par­tic­i­pant. What comes through to those who attend is the result of the real change agents in this world: Silence. Beau­ty. Time­less­ness. Community.

These things can help any of us stand up for what we most believe in — in love, light, and life. Our hope is that Beyond the Edge will be a por­tal to true self and a bet­ter world.

  1. I look for­ward to the group in May to con­tin­ue the talk about what mat­ters most in our lives and how we can more ful­ly live that life. While I’m a facil­i­ta­tor now of Beyond the Edge, my first expo­sure was that of a par­tic­i­pant, a par­tic­i­pant who was strug­gling with the dilem­ma of being in a posi­tion that was an oppor­tu­ni­ty most could only dream about, and yet know­ing that it was time for me to move on to hon­or what was deep­est in my heart. I ago­nized for 9 months about that deci­sion, and BTE helped me see more clear­ly. Will it be the same for you? Only you will know.
    My work now includes hold­ing space for peo­ple to have the con­ver­sa­tions they’re want­i­ng and need­ing to have. It sounds neb­u­lous, but it real­ly isn’t. Many dai­ly give away their pow­er, their hope, and dai­ly a lit­tle piece of them dies. Along with Dan and Jay I invite you to come to Jack­son Hole and work with us. It’s an inspi­ra­tional space. It’s a respite. It’s an hon­or­ing of who you are in your most authen­tic ver­sion. Come dis­cov­er that, come explore how that might meet the yearn­ings that exist in the world, wait­ing for your talents.

  5. Aha .. the stan­dard blo­gos­pher­ic learn­ing and adap­ta­tion path … let’s see .. March 14th last post, now June 6th .. still think­ing on whether you’ll start up again, or not ?

    Dan, I’ll be com­ing down to Seat­tle again for June 23 — June 25 (from Van­cou­ver). It would be fun to meet you for a coffee/tea/lunch or some such. Interested ?
