Why I Re-Named My Blog

Well, isn’t it obvious? Oestreich Associates is just my business name, not a descriptive name for what I am about. As leaders, as people, we are always growing and unfolding…our stories, our lives; our hearts, minds, and spirits. We unfold the way leaves unfold, blossoms, wings. It is a beautiful process, and not easy.

Amaryllis-SheetSmall

This is a picture of the amaryllis that is growing (towering) on my desk. The green part of the stalk is about two feet from where it leaves the bulb to where it splits into four huge blossoms, each about eight inches across (about the size of a salad plate). It’s been my inspiration for making the move to a better name. As the amaryllis grew and unfolded, I guess, so did my desire to make the change.

Here is a close-up of the flowers. Thanks to you all for coming here whenever you can.

I’ll be updating internal links in this site over the next couple of weeks. I beg your patience…and please email me straight away if you can’t find something!

  1. I thought your old name was unique and I like the title: Unfolding leadership. Great pictures of Flower Power! Your work makes me think a lot of Parker Palmer.

  2. Hi Dan, I like the new name of your blog. What’s not to like – unfolding, edge, self knowledge – all good. More than liking the name – I like your intention to blog. We have discussed your blog many times and I see that it is now in your blood. That’s good. You are a great writer and this blog gives you the avenue of writing in short bursts as you compile your thoughts for a larger work which I know is in you too.

So blessing on your new name, your new commitment to continue to “think out loud” and to the leadership that you and I care so deeply about.

    Jay
